Did you know?
You can put about 15 acupuncture needles inside of the standard blood draw needle! This is roughly the size of a cat whisker!
Needles are measured in gauges, and the higher the gauge, the smaller the diameter. IV needles are typically between 16-20, blood drawing needles are between 21-25, hypodermic needles are typically between 25-27 gauges, and most acupuncture needles range between 30-40. Different lengths and gauges are used depending on which area of the body is being treated and what we are trying to accomplish - think about the difference between a big gluteus muscle and a point on the head.
