Cosmetic Acupuncture

How should I prepare for my treatment?

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that will allow us access to your body.

  • Do not wear make-up to your appointment.

  • Be sure to eat a snack or small meal an hour or two before your appointment.

  • If possible, avoid strenuous activity or exercise after your treatment.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine before and after.

  • Do drink plenty of water before and after your treatment.

  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and Vitamin E for two weeks prior to treatment to reduce the potential for bruising.

What does the treatment consist of?

This non-surgical acupuncture facelift is specifically designed to improve facial and/or neck appearance by reducing fine lines and wrinkles, toning face muscles, reducing puffiness, fading age spots, reduction of acne and rosacea, and rejuvenating dull, lifeless, or aging skin. Visible but temporary results can be seen after the first treatment. Both neck and face protocols are available.

The treatments address the physical, mental, and emotional patterns that cause disease and contribute to the aging process so that you may receive acupuncture on your body as well as your face depending on your unique concerns.  Your cosmetic acupuncture experience will increase the production of collagen and elastin, increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, clear sinus congestion, and activate lymphatic drainage to improve skin texture and appearance.

Minor and temporary facial and neck bruising are the most common side effects, with most bruising disappearing within two weeks.  Be sure to consider this when scheduling your appointment.  Recovery time is fast, and there is minimal risk of swelling or infections.

Who could benefit from Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Almost anyone can benefit from Cosmetic Acupuncture and Massage. However, Cosmetic Acupuncture should NOT be used by those with:

  • Heart disorders/Pacemakers

  • Diabetes Mellitus

  • High blood pressure

  • Pregnancy

  • Acute oral herpes outbreak

  • Bruising or bleeding disorders

  • Individuals who currently suffer from migraines (can be treated first)

  • Acute cold or flu symptoms

  • Recent Botox injections and fillers

How many treatments will I need?

Dramatic and long lasting changes generally occur with a series of sessions. An initial 10-treatment series is recommended over the first five weeks, with maintenance to follow.  Each person responds differently, depending on his or her condition and lifestyle prior to treatment.  Once monthly maintenance treatments are strongly encouraged as the dermis takes at least four weeks to turnover and repair.  With maintenance the results may last up to two years for people who are 60s or older and up to five years for people who start in their mid 30s to 50s.  The ideal time to start is in your 30s.
